Die ground elder, die..

Die ground elder, die..
like a blank Ground Elder free canvas..

Over the past 1.5 year or so, ever since we signed the papers to exchange our big city townhouse to a country side retreat, I’ve read up a lot about gardening.

One thing that is often discussed on the forums of my native home country (yes, je suis expat) is Ground Elder. And today standing to my knees in a flower bed of this shit I have come to one conclusion.

The only ones praising this horror of weed are the ones too lazy to get rid off it by digging.

Cause I really cannot come up with any other reason.

This whole BS of “use it for pesto” doesn’t fly with me. There are other edible weeds in our garden and I have tasted all of them. And the ONE thing they have in common on top of being a weed is they taste like crap.

So the next time someone suggests you make Ground Elder pesto DON’T.

Except for maybe a very large Italian family no one devour that much pesto they can keep their unwanted supply of Ground Elder in check!

Tomorrow we’ll give the fencing a well deserved scrub and start thinking what to plant in this great spot of our garden :)
