I cancelled on Etsy..

So, I really tried but in the end I cancelled on Etsy. The idea was to put some or all of my stuff for sale on Etsy. Even though they bite off a big chunk of ones earnings I was thinking it is already a well functioning social media outlet if you'd like, and where the things I am selling are already around.

However, after going back and forth on the pros and cons I set up an account with the idea of creating a shop.

Little did I know the hassle that would come along with it. I don't mind people checking my identity to see if I'm a legit or real live person to sell stuff on their sight. But not even after uploading what needs to be uploaded is in anyway possible to get this going.

All because I ticked in the wrong thing when starting. Which is my mistake, but since one cannot fix it by going backwards in the account creation one suddenly finds ones self stuck in a catch 22. It did not matter what I did, I was stuck.

Eventually I just admitted defeat and let it go. I am not saying I won't starting over again. BUT.. in the year of 2024 it amazes me that one incorrect tick when signing up makes it impossible to fix and go back and fix it.

Not too long ago I was part of a Reddit conversation on this topic that people slip on their keyboards all the time but normally it sorts itself out. In this case with Etsy not so much, Which kind of take away the whole user experience in the first place.

Either way, to get things online I also need to get going with the product photos. So far I have come to set up a smaller studio. But then I need more light and need to head up to the attic which makes me irritated we don't have a real staircase leading up to the attic.

A real staircase and some Velux skylights, the ones that stick out like a dormer, was something I asked for when we had the whole roof of the the house two years ago. But the boys, read hubby and builder, voted me down..

So now I have a dark attic, a bad ladder to get up there, a lot of stock of things to sell and no web shop. I better get going!
