Goodbye social media..

Not too long ago I said goodbye to social media. And by social media I am talking about Facebook, Instagram and the awful trash can known as Twitter. Never ever did I consider to jump onboard on the TikTok train, so need to leave them. I just never joined.

I still keep a slumbering YouTube channel and I even have a Tumblr account to be able to make embeds of short videos and such. But getting rid of the others. What a relief and blessing!

The number one perk of this is actually not being force fed things I really don't care about. Things I have zero to nada interest in getting to know more about.

Another perk is the fact that like in a split second any eventual stupid people in ones friends zone are like gone, forever!

💡

By stupid people I mean people with who I share the one common interest of some sort and that's it. People I have zero other interests in common with.

Just like that!

Just like with any other kind of addiction, cause truth of the matter it is indeed an addiction, I did suffer from serious withdrawal symptoms. But the day when they all had faded away I felt so relieved.

All that noise that one really don't need in ones life was gone. Just like that!

This is where I took the active decision to leave another platform. One of my all time high "before social media came along"  favourite sites which is a good old fashioned forum.

Cause suddenly I realised that too had turned into some kind of full blown social media kind of thing.

Like a huge Facebook group if you will. A place where some people - not everybody - seem to have turned the "intentionally misunderstanding everything people are saying" into an art form.

Who needs that kind of drama in ones life?

No matter the topic for sure they will choose to misunderstand it and for sure they will also question it. And let's face it. They won't do it nicely.

Click bait 101..

In all I believe this phenomena is down to the quick society we are all living in.

A society where the clever click bait headlines have made people read just those headlines and from there they make up their own interpretation of the topic. In opposite of actually reading about it.

Interestingly enough. After leaving all the things mentioned above, my writer's block seem to have disappeared. No joke!

I was talking about it with a friend the other week and bitching about myself being stupid enough to believe I could start a new and fresh blog in the year of 2023.

Starting it is one thing. That is easy breezy. I tried that before.

Filling it up with content on the other hand qualifies somewhere in between easy and the difficult part of getting actual people to "sign up" and read it.

But looking around I see and hear more people going back to and striving to get back to basics. Not only with the lives they live. But also in regards to their internet habits and usage.

So maybe doing this ten years after my latest blogging venture I just end up being a trend setter. Only time will tell.
