It goes a bit up and down..

So this whole venture of blogging, writing or whatever one like to call it is going a little bit up and down. A lot of it cause of things happening in my life that I just cannot control right now. It is more a go with the flow situation and not all in a positive way.
Anyhow.. our house is starting to shape up quite nice. It's been taking longer than expected but one day one realise enough is enough and just get going. A little bit here and little bit there everyday makes remarkable steps forward even though one would not believe it.
Not making so much progress forward is my podcasting career. After literally loosing my voice early July I kind of dropped the ball. Everytime I tried to record something it fell flat to the ground some sentences in cause my voice cracked.
But today feels like a good day. It is Friday, I have cleared out our guest kitchen so my better half can plaster it tomorrow and that will also make great progress. I am also on a quest to get going with this whole web shop idea.
The web shop set up
To see if I could accomplish something I even went back to Etsy, which again led to an epic fail..
In all honesty I cannot believe people have the time nor energy to go through so much crap in a so not obvious user interface such as Etsy.
For sure it may be worth it cause it is a sort of community with a lot of things on sale which could make it somewhat easier to break into the market.
On the other hand. Would I really want to give up so much of my hard earned cash into commissions? No, I don't think so.
Which made me take a closer look at Shopify again. I sense we used to use them for an old tack shop we used to run.
But they too seem to have gone down the road with offering some but take a hefty commission on top of the monthly fees PLUS some extra for features that would be good to have.
Subscription fees
I have serious issues with subscription fees that require one still pay extra. When I used to work as a photographer I was one of those people who ditched paying monthly fees to use the Adobe suite.
All this in favour on a what I reckoned a way better photo editing software in the first place, and where you paid ones and then you could be done with if for years. For this website I don't mind paying a yearly fee.
But imagine how much it would cost me to set up an external site for the shop where it not only cost me a monthly fee and or a hefty commission on my sales?
I believe that would and should be a no go. With that in mind I better get cracking on with turning this site into a vintage shop. Stay tuned..
