Garden upgrade... (gallery)
Yesterday, and what probably was the final day of summer, I managed to give the black hole of our back garden a bit of an upgrade before heading into fall season.
When we moved to the country side three years ago part of our dream of country style living was to grow our own veggies and fruit.
So not only have we planted a lot of edibles in our garden and built some raised planter boxes. We also have a green house.
Not knowing how the final layout of our back garden would and should be, we opted for a cheap tunnel house.
Cheap as in the purchase costs - less then a €100.
Cheap as in the actual tunnel plastic - a total environment disaster of plastic falling apart.
But the frame itself is surprisingly sturdy for a cheap aluminum frame from China. Evidently it also doubles really well as a cat trap.
Crazy cat lady?
With all other projects going on it is also kind of standing in a good location for now. Which means that we've decided to keep it in place for a little bit longer.
So yesterday I covered it up for the winter with some real tunnel green house plastic Made in France.
What a difference.
Not only in quality but also a total lift of that black hole of a corner in the far end of our garden.
Every house and garden has them...
I still dream of a huge green house for another location in the garden, and a Finnish Kota for this. But for now, this will do and will make a perfect winter hang out for all my geraniums.
Plants I adore and love, and also cry about if they god forbid decide to parish and die.
