That Rachel Greene Moment..
Normally that would be two days of work with a money guarantee. Leaving five days of “free time” to pursue those other dreams and hopefully also the possibility to send out invoices doing so. But no!
Yesterday I experienced a total Rachel Greene moment when getting my first pay check at my new job. You know the job I really wish I liked but I really, really don’t.
After getting my first ever pay check from said job I dislike it more than ever. Don’t get me wrong. I love the fact I have a job and do have a pay check to come along with it.
But does it feel worth the while to have a 16h/week contract, just to see those hours being spread out over four days per week? No, with that kind of money it really really doesn’t.
The fact I am back to work every Saturday - which I did basically my whole life - and have to spend four days a week to make those 16h feels like a total joke.
And again, I am not ungrateful. But the whole point in working part time is to have time to do other stuff.
Like pursuing and [re]build my career in media.
Starting my vintage shop.
Get our B&B up and running.
Which is what I thought would be the case when signing up for 16h/week.
Cause normally that would be two days of work with a money guarantee. Leaving five days of “free time” to pursue those other dreams and hopefully also the possibility to send out invoices doing so.
But when clocking in at work at 2pm each and other day I don’t even have time to get back and forth to one of my faithful media clients. So in all it is all starting to feel like a catch 22 kind of thing.
One need money to live, one need money to pursue ones dream.
But one also need the time, and right now time really is money I am not getting from my clients. Cause I don’t have time to make any of the time consuming appointments needed to create instruction videos, reels and voice overs.
Something’s got to give. Not really sure what..
