The vintage furniture drama goes on..

So in the end of last week I had convinced my hubbie that a cabinet in the TV-room is not an all bad idea. So I scouted around on the national “Craigs List” for what is referred to as “maiden kasts”.
I am not sure what that is actually referring to in history but in all it is a smaller wooden cabinet of about 1.10-1.40m tall, 35-50cm deep and 90-130cm wide.
Most of them come with either a top or a bottom drawer and closed up shelving behind two or even one door.
After a lot of searching I cut my list down to three cabinets. One corner one, and two straight ones. One of the straight one was painted black = depressing but totally easy to give a less depressing colour. The other one was painted in a beautiful grey = YAY. With some words on the door in white = NAY!!!!
However, the black one was more expensive than the grey one. The grey one was probably 20 years older than the black one so I really, REALLY wanted the grey one.
So the seller and I message back and forth, I say I want to buy it. The seller confirm the cabinet is mine. So I go back to the owner of the black cabinet and say I am out.
But then, out of the blue when asking for the adress where I can pick up the grey cabinet I am suddenly informed it is now more expensive. Cause there had been so much interest for it.
I’m like: you actually made an agreement with me for a fixed price already yesterday and I am not interested in paying this new price. That is not how one do business.
To which the seller responds he or she will sell it to someone else for the higher price.
WTF!
History repeats itself..
Now I go back to the market place and sees the ad of the black cabinet have expired. Normally that means it is sold. So back to the front page to create a new search for this kind of cabinet. But I don’t have to.
Cause the black cabinet has been listed again, probably they removed the ad cause they made an agreement that fell through.
So I contact them and say I will buy it and mention the price he already mentioned to me. The seller says it’s ok.
I ask where to pick it up and now the price goes up. FLASHBACK!
I get so pissed off and tell them that is bullshit and same thing happened with the cabinet that I had originally chosen over this, and that I had been upfront honest all along the money was a bit too much in my opinion and that is why I went for the other one.
Eventually he, she, it comes back to me and tell me I can pick it up to the original price they gave me. So I do. I even give them a five star revue, just to be nice.
Karma is the one bitch you can trust!
Yesterday morning when opening up the market place, which always opens up with suggestions based on old searches, the first thing I see is a new advert for the grey cabinet.
Seems their big spender never came to pick up their cabinet after all. Cannot say I feel sorry for them cause if you don’t have any morals this is what should happen to you.
However, after contemplating a bit I am quite certain these two sellers were connected. It cannot be a random act of faith that there are two similar creatures, living in the very same village treating people like they are born yesterday.
Anyhow, the black cabinet will stay black till after Christmas. Then we’ll get going with some beautiful shade of lighter colour.
