There's a first for everything..

There's a first for everything..

Yesterday we ticked in on one of those there's a first for everything. Our first was to actively enter and be part of an official boot sale.

We've been to boot sales before but never ever as a vendor. But it was kind of fun to stock up the car with unwanted items, label them and drive to the location and put them on display.

Maybe even more so after realising our boot sale went better than for the people around us. Selling things, no matter what they are, is always about finding the right buyer.

For us this boot sale delivered the right kind of buyers. For others not so much.

Our colleague or competitor, what ever you choose to call him, to the right had plenty of seriously prices antiques on display.

I don't get how you believe selling some seriously priced antiques on a boot sale is ever going to work, but that's me. Myself also brought some antique kitchen tools but I knew they were more on display than anything else.

Even so, if anybody were to be interested in buying them, they were for sale for a moderate price.

The stand on our left was a complete other ballgame, those two ladies completely missed the mark..

I do feel for them. On the other hand. Why would you even enter a boot sale if the only things you have on stock are clothes?

First of all I personally don't know anybody who would schedule a visit to a boot sale to purchase clothes. A vintage store yes, maybe even a specialise flea market but a boot sale? No, that is really weird.

Plus, unless it is a coat or jacket no one can even try the items on before buying, so in the end of the day maybe it should be a no brainer to not enter if clothes is your one and only speciality of trade.

We did not see these women make one sale. While we closed many. We calculated we closed a deal every 20 minutes over the hours standing there.

The two ladies on our left did not close one single deal. So in the end of the day they had to bring all items back home again.

To sum things up we were happy with the outcome of our day. Will we do it again? I' m not sure, so for now I'll focus in setting up the webshop.
