This was fun, let's [not] do it again sometime...

Pavers
The stones from our drive way

A couple of weeks ago I knocked on a neighbour's door to ask them who redid their driveway earlier on this year. Cause since we also need to remake ours, and their's look amazing, I thought I was on to something, so did my hubby.

After getting the name and number of the paving magician they had used we set up a meeting with this guy.

So he entered our terrain, measured our drive way, drank som coffee, made some sketches and promised to get back with a cost estimate within a week. And so he did, a neat little suggestion that we pay him €17.000 to get it fixed, sometime late September!

What a joke!

But for sure a trick of the trade. If one has too much work one give phantasy prices to prospect clients. If someone is stupid enough to take the bait one fullfil and cash in on the [extra] money.

How would I know this? Well... Cause I have done it myself.

When I worked full time with photo and video that is what I did to try and get out of assignments that I in all honesty did not want to do.

Anyhow, this is when our builder sent us his guy our way.

An uncomplicated happy Belgian guy who unlike "Peter Pan" came with totally normal and reasonable numbers. So far so good.

But, this is where my ex marine [suspected ex. sadist drill sergeant] of a husband comes up with the great idea of us removing the current pavers ourselves. It does save money for other things that we need and or have to do around the house, so we did...

Let's just say it wasn't exactly how I had planned my final days of an already shitty summer holiday. But, now the drive way is ready for the guys to roll in and start with the makeover of the original driveway, the pathway on the side of the house, plus an additional two parking places on the side.

Adding on two parking places was actually one of the conditions stipulated by our local council when we got the approval to begin with a B&B.

So the good thing there is it has not costed us any extra money in regards to any planning permissions etc. Deciding to use gravel for the new parking places will also be good for nature. Which of course is something that is very important not only to me but also to my hubby.

During the past week when it was so stupidly warm outside we really could watch up close how birds, bees and other creatures suffer in this world us selfish humans have given them.

Even so, no one was suffering in our lush garden of Eden if you'd like. Here they have shelter, water, sand patches and what it seems an almost endless amount of food to go along with it.
